1st place on the national KPMG competition – qualification to Dubai
The national final of the KPMG International Case Competition (KICC) was organized for the second time in Romania on 9-11 March, 2015 in Bucharest. The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Babes-Bolyai University and the GTK – Business Consulting Club was represented by team Watson4, who achieved an excellent first place in the final round of the competition… qualifying thereby to represent Romania in the international final of the competition in Dubai.
The members of the winning team were: Csongor Guttmann, Anita Kovács, Hunor Német and Rita Székely, all of them representing the GTK – Business Consulting Club.
To qualify to the final round the team had to perform successfully during several selection rounds. They had to develop a strategy for improving a selected Romanian industry and to illustrate their ideas on an infographic. In the next round, the teams had to present their proposals in front of a jury composed of KPMG employees. After the qualifying rounds six teams got into the national final.
After the first two preparation days the six teams had to compete with each other on the third day. Each team had 3 hours to solve a case study focusing on the low-cost automotive industry, including the future of the local Dacia brand.
Based on their excellent performance in the final round team Watson4 achieved the first place of the national stage, qualifying thereby to represent Romania in the international final in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), in April 2015, where they will compete against teams representing further 28 countries.
