Runner-up award for the students from the GTK at a case competition organized by the Georgetown University in Washington D.C.

Four students from the Babeș-Bolyai University, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and from the GTK won the group stage runner-up award at the 2021 McDonough Business Strategy Challenge case competition organized online by the Georgetown University in Washington D.C., the biggest non-profit case competition in North America. The team consisting of Domokos Ferenc (Management, 2nd year), Csenteri András Gergely (Business Information Systems, 2nd year), György Ákos (Finance and Banking, 2nd year) és Izsák Réka (Finance and Banking, 3rd year) managed to reach the second place in the group stage, in front of renown universities like Universidad Panamericana (Guadalajara, Mexico) and City University of Hong Kong, but falling short of Maastrich University (The Netherlands). The University of Toronto won the competition in the finals.

The competition was held between the 2nd and 6th of February, and 19 prestigious universities from 5 continents. Europe was represented by 3 universities, one of which was the Babeș-Bolyai University. The task for the participants was to develop a detailed strategy for the Medical Society Consortium on Climate & Health, a non-profit organization from Washington D.C..

Aside from the runner-up award, the team from GTK also won the People’s choice award for the best introduction video.

The team coaches who prepared the students for this competition were Szász Levente, Györfy Lehel-Zoltán and Rácz Béla-Gergely.

This was the second year when the students from Babeș-Bolyai University managed to win the runner-up award at the McDonough Business Strategy Challenge case competition, as this exact same prize was also achieved in 2019.
