Team GTK at the international case competition of the Norwegian School of Economics

Between October 2-6, 2017 the Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen hosted the first NHH Case Competition. 12 teams from 4 continents participated at the event. The team representing the Babeș-Bolyai University and the GTK – Business Consulting Club from Cluj-Napoca was also invited to the competition. Members of Team Cluj: Deák Péter, Éltes Rita, Kelemen Kincső and Szabó Norbert. The case solved by the competing teams was provided by Statoil, a Norwegian oil company. The participating teams had to come up with a strategy for entering the onshore wind energy market. Teams had 24 hours at their disposal to develop their solutions.

Competing teams were grouped by the organizers into three different groups of four teams each, the best team in each group qualifying to the final round of the competition. Team GTK has competed in the same group with the teams representing the Queen’s University from Canada, the University of California, Berkeley-Haas School of Business from the United States and the hosting university’s team from Bergen. The team from Cluj did not succeed to qualify to the final, the solution of Team Queen’s University being the most highly evaluated by the jury. The Canadian team has later won the final of the competition as well. The two other finalist teams were the ones representing the BI Norwegian Business School and the Queensland University of Technology from New-Zealand.

For the team representing the GTK – Business consulting Club from Cluj the competition was a great opportunity to compete with the world’s leading universities’. Congratulations to Team GTK for their performance!
