Ten years on the podium: victory at the case competition in Győr

Between February 10-12, 2017the 15th edition of the National Finance Case Study Competition was organized by the Kautz Gyula College for Advanced Studies at the Széchenyi István University in Győr, Hungary. Out of the 15 participating teams, the FourInOne team from Cluj-Napoca won the first place of the competition.

The members of the FourInOne  team, representing the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Babeș-Bolyai University from Cluj-Napoca, and the Business Consulting Club (GTK) were: Deák Levente (Finance and Banking, BSc, 3rd year), Kiss Alpár (Business Management, MSc), Nagy Loránd (Corporate Financial Management, MSc) and Szabó Sándor Zsolt (Business Management, MSc).

The subject of the case study was the leading company of the Hungarian energy sector,ELMŰ-ÉMÁSZ. The task of the participating teams was to optimize the energy usage and to reduce the carbon footprint of the company in the upcoming years.

The 6 best performing teams have qualified for the “A” final of the competition, where they had the opportunity to present their solutions in front of a professional jury composed of the representative of the case company ELMŰ-ÉMÁSZ and other business leaders. Based ont he decision of the jury the team from Cluj-Napoca has won the first place of the competition. This year represented the 10th year in row when a team from Cluj-Napoca earns a podium placement in this competition. In 2017 the team from the University of Szeged has won second place, while the third place has been won by the team representing the Corvinus University of Budapest.
