The first event of the MCC-GTK Leadership Program with professor Daniel Ding
On the 18th and 19th of October, 2013 the first event of the MCC-GTK Leadership Program was held, being coordinated by the Mathias Corvinus Collegium of Budapest and the GTK – Business Consulting Club. The invited lecturer of the event was dr. Daniel Ding, professor of Ferris State University, Michigan. His area of expertize includes English technical communication, composition, business communication, and advanced scientific writing. His research interests include multiculturalism in communication, international communication, and the history of scientific and technical communication.
The experiences of the invited specialist have been shared with the students on a series of seminars. In the first part of the training the basic components and influencing factors of modern communication were discussed. The training emphasized the importance of a well grounded and structured message transmission process, and the importance of knowing the audience to whom the message is transmitted. Since culture and communication are in a strong relationship, the second part of the seminar concentrated on the differences between cultures, including the comparison of of Western and Oriental societies, as well as the impact of history and tradition on modern dialogue. During the last part of the seminar participants had the chance to learn about the three formal letters in english, and some of the most common grammatical mistakes.
