Participation on the MCC Energy Summer Academy, Budapest
Between 5th and 16th of August, 2012 the MCC Energy Summer Academy was organized for the first time by the Marhias Corvinus Collegium in Budapest. Participants came from several different countries of Europe. The BCC was represented at the Academy by the following members: Krisztina Ábrahám, Csaba Kristály, Roland Rákóczi, Krisztián Székely and Kinga-Beáta Szőcs. The main topic of the Academy was “The energy industry in the context of sustainable development”.
During the first week of the camp university professors, researchers and economists held their presentations about the energy market and its trends, about alternative energy resources and its technological, economical an environmental aspects.
During the second week, participants worked in groups in order to solve a case study and prepare a thesis on one of the topics given by the organizators. The solutions of the case study were evaluated by Attila Szepesi, author of the case study, and consultant at KPMG. Each of the three best teams had one BCC member in their lines.
The theses were evaluated by a jury formed by three experts on the topics given. Two of the theses were considered outstanding by the jury, both having at least one BCC member in the authors’ list.
Thanks to the MCC Energy Summer Academy, participants earned a comprehensive knowledge about energy industry and its challenges, and about alternative solutions as possible responses to these challenges.
We are grateful to Miklós Kerezsi, professional and strategic coordinator of BCC, for the support he offered us to attend the Summer Academy.
