Insurance, risk and strategy – report
On 22-23 November, 2013 József Takács (Head of Strategy and Business Development, Vodafone Hungary) and András Viszkievicz (Actuarial Analist, Aegon Insurance, Hungary) held a public lecture and a series of seminars at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Babeş-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca in the framework of the MCC-GTK Leadership Program. In the following a report on this event…
The topic of the lecture was “New trends in insurance and the emergence of exotic financial solutions”, while during the seminars participants had the chance to work on a credit risk rating project, and had to solve a case study regarding the expansion strategy of a Brazilian FMCG company.
During the public lecture the first speaker, András Viszkievicz introduced the participants into the world of the global insurance and reinsurance market. During this introduction he also highlighted the probability of natural disasters and their impact on the operation of insurance companies. The first speaker has also explained to the participants the benefits of portfolio diversification and specified the role of reinsurance companies on the global market. The second lecturer, József Takács, has briefly presented the mechanism of securitization, highlighting the main causes of the global financial crisis, and its relationship with the global insurance market.
