GTK team in the TOP 5 at the finals of the International Case Study Competition in Toronto

Following the global qualifiers of the case study competition organized by the Rotman Commerce Entrepreneurship Organization within the University of Toronto in Canada, both teams representing our university and the GTK have successfully qualified to the final round, competing with the TOP 10 student teams, one of the teams from Cluj Napoca achieving a position in the TOP 5 of the competition.

The finals of the Canadian Boundless Case Competition, an international case study competition at the University of Toronto, were held on 15th January 2022, with the participation of two student teams representing the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Hungarian line of study. The teams also consisted of GTK members.

During the competition, the teams received the task to develop an expansion, financing and sales/marketing strategy for Novagrow, a company operating in Quebec region. At the event, both teams presented their solutions, and 5 of the 10 teams were selected, including the Phoenix team from our university and from GTK, who once again had the opportunity to convince the jury about the viability of their strategies in the final round of the event.

After the finals, the first and second places were announced:

  • 1st place: Western University (Canada)
  • 2nd place: University of Waterloo (Canada)

The teams representing the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Babeș-Bolyai University and the GTK achieved the following results:

TOP 5 position – Team Phoenix: Székely Evelin Beáta (Business Information Systems, 2nd year), Székely Noémi (Management, 2nd year), Szekernyés Péter (Finance and Banking, 2nd year) and Szőke Dóra (Management, 2nd year)

TOP 10 position – Team UNIT: Csenteri András Gergely (Business Information Systems, 3rd year), Domokos Ferenc (Management, 3rd year), György Ákos (Finance and Banking, 3rd year) and Pásztor Kende Ferenc (Management, 2nd year)

The advisory teachers of the teams were dr. Györfy Lehel-Zoltán, dr. Szász Levente and dr. Rácz Béla-Gergely. Congratulations to both teams from Cluj Napoca for the outstanding results!
