GTK students made it to the finals of the Global Case Competition at Harvard
Outstanding results were achieved by the GTK master’s students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, who made it to the top 10 of the Global Case Competition at Harvard (https://www.thecasecompetition.org/).
The qualifying round of the competition took place from 21st February to 13th March 2022, with more than 150 university teams representing the best higher education institutions in the world. Participating teams had to develop a strategic management plan backed by financial calculations as to whether the Japanese-based video game multinational should acquire Games Workshop in the UK. The teams were required to solve the case in the form of a maximum of 100 pages of presentation, to which calculations could be attached. Based on the evaluation of the jury, the team from Cluj-Napoca performed well, making it to one of the top 10 teams in the finals of the competition. Making it to the finals is also a historic achievement, as it is the first time in the history of the competition that a team from an Eastern European university has qualified in the finals of the competition.
Members of the team representing BBU and the GTK Business Consulting Club are Tamás Barabási (Business management Msc, 2nd year), András Borsos (Corporate Financial Management Msc, 2nd year), Zsolt Jakó (Corporate Financial management Msc, 2nd year) Miriám Nagy (Business management Msc, 2nd year) and Hunor Szép (Corporate Financial management Msc, 1st year). The advisory professors of the team were dr. Levente Szász, dr. Lehel-Zoltán Györfy and dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz.
The TOP10 finals of the competition will take place on 23rd April, 2022 during which the team from Cluj-Napoca will be able to compete with student teams from universities such as London Business School, University of St. Gallen, ESSEC Business School, University of Delhi, Lahore University of Management Sciences, HEC Paris, ESCP Business School and Hult International Business School.
We wish our students good luck in the finals!
