GTK students were awarded with silver medal in Rotterdam!
Between the 28-29 of September, the Rotterdam International Case Competition Bootcamp, organized by Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, took place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. 10 teams from 5 universities, representing 4 different countries had the chance to compete in Rotterdam. The student team of GTK and of the Hungarian study line of Faculty of Economics and Business Administration from the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca became first in the first two rounds and second in the third, with an outstanding performance, and thus reached the final of the competition with a strong lead, finishing first in the group and second in the finals.
The members of the team from Cluj-Napoca were András Antal (Finance and Banking, 3rd year), Gergő Kolozsi (Marketing, 2nd year), Kata Kovács (Finance and Banking, 3rd year) and Barbara Kürti (Business Information Systems, 3rd year), accompanied by their coach Kincső Kelemen. During the three rounds of the competition, the team had to solve a 6-day and two 3-hour case studies: in the first round, they had to propose a growth strategy for an Indian ophthalmology pharmaceutical company, in the second round, they had to create a strategy in order to make an American indoor cycling company profitable, and in the third round, they had to optimize the operations of an Ecuadorian snack food company.
During the group rounds, BBTE competed against teams from Heilbronn University from Germany, Avans University from the Netherlands and from the host Rotterdam University, finishing first twice and second once to qualify for the final of the competition. In the finals, the other team from Heilbronn University reached the podium with a second place after a repeated presentation of the third-round solution.
The team was coached by Dr Levente Szász, Dr Béla-Gergely Rácz, Dr Lehel Györfy and Kincső Kelemen.
