First place in the division achieved by GTK students at the international case competition in Norway
The NHH Norwegian School of Economics hosted the prestigious NHH International Case Competition in Bergen, Norway, from 2-6 November 2023, where student teams from 12 universities around the world competed. Teams from three continents and eight different countries participated in the event. The four students from Babeș-Bolyai University (BBU), members of GTK Business Consulting Club performed excellently, finishing the first round as group winners.
The team from Cluj-Napoca consisted of Balázs Kristóf (Business Information Systems, 3rd year), Bánffy Zsófia (Management, 3rd year), Bugár Anna (Finance and Banking, 3rd year) and Tófalvi Krisztián (Business Information Systems, 2nd year), accompanied by Kende Pásztor. They had to compete in two rounds: the first round was aimed at developing an expansion strategy in Asia for the Norwegian company 7Analytics, while the second round was aimed at developing a sustainability strategy for REMA1000, a Norwegian-based supermarket chain.
The GTK team completed excellent the first round, finishing top of the group, outperforming teams from the University of Navarra in Spain, Corvinus University from Budapest and the host NHH School of Economics.
The second round of the competition saw teams from the University of South Carolina and USC Marshall from the USA, and the NHH School of Economics from Norway qualify for the final round. The University of South Carolina was the eventual winner in this year’s competition.
The coaches of the team from Cluj-Napoca were dr. Levente Szász, dr. Lehel Györfy and dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz. Congratulations to the BBU team for their excellent performance and results!
