Division first place and finalist presentation at the global case competition in Mexico

Our GTK students performed excellently at the International Case Study Competition in Guadalajara, Mexico, winning first place in the group in the first qualifying round and reaching the finals of the mixed-teams-competition with Zsófia Bánffy. In the Business and Management Case Competition, however, the GTK team finished second in the group based on the overall results of the preliminary rounds, and, for the first time, did not make it to the grand finals of the competition.

In the competition, which took place from 29 October to 4 November 2023, the team representing the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Babeș-Bolyai University (BBU) and the GTK Business Consulting Club competed in a very strong qualifying group with Simon Fraser University from Canada, the University of Manitoba from Canada and Corvinus University from Budapest. While the team from Cluj-Napoca finished first in the group after the first qualifying round, they finished second in the second qualifying round, in a group from where the student team from Simon Fraser University in Canada qualified for the finals.

The members of the team from Cluj-Napoca were Kristóf Balázs (3rd year, Business Information Systems), Zsófia Bánffy (3rd year, Management), Anna Bugár (3rd year, Finance and Banking) and Kata Kovács (3rd year, Finance and Banking). Zsófia Bánffy performed outstandingly in the separate mixed team competition, advancing into the finals with her team. The coaches of the GTK team were Dr. Levente Szász, Dr. Lehel Györfy and Dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz.

The team from the University of Florida from the United States won the competition, followed by HEC Montreal from Canada and Simon Fraser University.

Congratulations to our GTK students for their excellent performance!
