Excellent performances and TOP 5 ranking at the NIBS International Business Simulation competition!

15 of our students participated in the International Business Simulation Competition organised by NIBS (Network of International Business Schools) and Ecosim, competing against 33 teams of students from 10 universities on 3 continents. Three of our four teams reached the final, with our team Chandelier finishing in the TOP 5.

The structure of the 4 teams was as follows: Avalanche – Boglárka Fazakas (Gazdasági informatika, 1. év), Tamás Ilyés (Menedzsment, 1. év), Kata Szalontai (Gazdasági informatika, 2. év), András Vaida-Kozma (Menedzsment, 2. év); Chandelier – Péter Bereczki-Orbán (Gazdasági informatika, 2. év), Ábel Dimén-Varga (Gazdasági informatika, 2. év), Gergő Kolozsi (Marketing, 2. év), Krisztián Tófalvi (Gazdasági informatika, 2. év); Overthinkers – Richárd Boros (Menedzsment, 1. év), Mária Dénes (Marketing, 2. év), György Vargyasi (Pénzügy és Bank, 2. év), Tamás Vitos (Gazdasági informatika, 2. év) és Trailblazers – Gellért Forró (Pénzügy és Bank, 1. év), Magor Hadnagy (Menedzsment, 1. év), Edina Lukács (Marketing, 1. év).

The 4-round competition started with a trial round, where the students could get acquainted with the simulation, after which the group rounds started. Here the competition was a knockout stage, but the students performed excellently and all 4 teams advanced to the semi-finals. This round was a more serious competition, full of unexpected twists and turns, but in the end three of the four GTK teams managed to qualify for the final ten. In the finals, the Avalanche and Trailblazers teams put in outstanding performances and Chandlier managed to make it into the TOP 5 teams.

The students were able to learn about the factors that determine the success of a company and how to create an effective corporate strategy. The hands-on experience also helped them to learn and put into practice the role of a manager.
