Our members came second in their group at the international case study competition in Thailand!

From 20-26 May 2024, the Chulalongkorn Business School International Case Study Competition took place in Bangkok and Rayong, Thailand, with 20 teams of students from four continents of the world competing. In a very high standard of competition, our four-member student team competed excellently, finishing second in their group in the two-round global competition.

The Department of Economics and Business Administration in Hungarian Language of the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca and GTK Business Consulting Club were represented by four students, Zsófia Albert (Finance and Banking, 3rd year), Kristóf Balázs (Business Information Systems, 3rd year), Zsófia Bánffy (Management, 3rd year), and Anna Bugár (Finance and Banking, 3rd year). According to the draw held on the first day of the competition, the team from Cluj-Napoca competed in a group with two teams from Thailand, one from the United States and one from a Chinese university. In the first round of the competition, the competing teams had 8 hours to develop a strategic plan for Siam Piwat, a shopping mall chain in Bangkok.

The second round consisted of a 24-hour case study in which teams had to develop a development plan for WHA Group, Thailand’s leading industrial and logistics property developer, based on digitalisation and sustainability. Based on the combined results of the two rounds, our team finished second in the group, with the host Chulalongkorn University team advancing to the final.

The winner of the competition was the student team from the University of Auckland in New Zealand, followed by HEC Montreal from Canada and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in third place.

The coaches of our team were Dr. Levente Szász, Dr. Lehel Györfy and Dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz.

Congratulations to our members for their excellent results!
