Second and fourth place at the most prestigious hungarian-language case study competition!
Between April 11–13, 2025, the National Case Study Competition finals were held in Budapest, organized by Corvinus University of Budapest. More than 50 teams from across the Carpathian Basin applied to the competition, and all three teams representing the Department of Economics and Business Administration in Hungarian Language at Babeș–Bolyai University and the GTK Business Consulting Club advanced to the top 12 finals in Budapest. From the top 12, two of our teams made it into the top 4, where, after an excellent performance, our Fortress Consulting team placed second, and our Corona Advisors team placed fourth.
The three teams representing the Department of Economics and Business Administration in Hungarian Language at Babeș–Bolyai University and the GTK were as follows:
Corona Consulting: Both Dániel (Management, 2nd year), Ilyés Tamás (Management, 2nd year), Vaida-Kozma András (Management, 3rd year), and Zoványi Tamás (Banking and Finance, 2nd year).
Fortress Consulting: Bánffy Zsófia (Data-Driven Management, Master’s, 1st year), Bugár Anna (Data-Driven Management, Master’s, 1st year), Kovács Kata (Data-Driven Management, Master’s, 1st year), and Lőrinczi Réka (Financial and Business Data Analysis, Master’s, 1st year).
Nexus Consulting: Daczó Zsolt Tamás (Management, 3rd year), Dénes Mária (Marketing, 3rd year), Forró Gellért (Banking and Finance, 2nd year), and Vargyasi György (Banking and Finance, 3rd year).
The competition consisted of two rounds: an online preliminary round, followed by an in-person final in Budapest. In the first round, students had to develop a business strategy related to the sustainability efforts of Libri Könyvkereskedelmi Kft. The teams came up with proposals that promoted both environmentally friendly operations and the encouragement of reading—for example, increasing the share of books printed on recycled paper, book exchange programs on digital platforms, and marketing campaigns targeting young people.
In the final, participants had to solve a real-life business problem of Veeva Systems, a U.S.-based company specializing in pharmaceutical software solutions. The challenge involved managing the seamless transition of the company’s clients (pharmaceutical companies) from the old Veeva CRM system to the new, modern Vault CRM platform. Teams had to develop a comprehensive change management and user adoption strategy, taking into account the challenges of digital transformation, the various stakeholder groups, and the functional differences between the two systems.
The teams were coached by Dr. Levente Szász, Dr. Lehel Györfy, Dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz, and PhD student Kincső Kelemen.
Congratulations to all three of our student teams for their outstanding achievements!
