First place in division in the first round at the International Case Competition in Norway!

Our students achieved remarkable results at the international case competition organized by NHH – Norwegian School of Economics. In the first round, the team from Cluj-Napoca secured first place in their division, surpassing teams from a university in Thailand, a Canadian university, and the host institution. Although they did not qualify for the final, after the 24-hour challenge, the Aarhus University team from Denmark advanced by just one point, so the Cluj-Napoca team finished the competition as second in their division overall.

The global competition took place between September 21–27, 2025, in the city of Bergen, Norway, bringing together teams from 12 prestigious universities worldwide. The team representing the Department of Economics and Business Administration in Hungarian Language of Babeș–Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, as well as the GTK Business Consulting Club, consisted of Fazakas Boglárka (Business Information Systems, 2nd year), Hajdó Boglárka (Business Information Systems, 2nd year), Ilyés Tamás (Management, 2nd year), and Kolozsi Gergő (Marketing, 3rd year).

During the competition, teams had to face two rounds of challenges. In the first round, the challenge was presented by the Norwegian biotech company Greentech Innovators, and participants had to answer how the company could efficiently scale its production while maintaining cost-effectiveness and competitiveness against traditional waste management solutions. In the second round, the challenge was posed by Elkjøp, the leading consumer electronics retailer in the Scandinavian region, and teams had to identify ways for the company to accelerate its transition to a circular business model while continuing to increase profit, market share, revenue, and customer satisfaction. The Cluj-Napoca team performed excellently in both rounds, achieving first place in their division in the first round and second place in the division overall in the final.

The team was prepared under the guidance of Dr. Szász Levente, Dr. Rácz Béla-Gregely, and Dr. Györfy Lehel, and was accompanied to the competition by Székely Evelin.

Congratulations to our members for their outstanding international achievement!
