Our members provided consulting on Luxembourg market entry and product development at the Amsterdam case study competition

Between March 12-17, 2026, the University of Amsterdam hosted an international business case competition, bringing together 12 leading universities from 3 continents. Among the participants was a student team representing the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, as well as the GTK Business Consulting Club.

The competition consisted of two rounds, during which participating teams had 8 and 24 hours, respectively, to solve and present real-world business cases.

The team from Cluj performed excellently in both rounds; however, they ultimately secured third place in their group, narrowly missing out on qualification for the finals. The competition was won by the team from Rotterdam School of Management, followed by HEC Montréal from Canada and the host university’s team from the Netherlands.

The Cluj team members were: Balázs Burkhardt (2nd year, Business Information Systems), Boglárka Hajdó (3rd year, Business Information Systems), Krisztina Kozma (3rd year, Management), and Benedek Balázs Lázár (2nd year, Business Information Systems). The team was coached by Dr. Levente Szász, Dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz, and Dr. Lehel Györfy.

In the first round, teams were tasked with developing and presenting a market entry strategy for Luxembourg for an American donut-focused coffee chain, in front of a jury composed of industry professionals. In the second round, participants had to design a new product concept for a company producing dried beef snacks (beef jerky), including its launch in Germany and the Benelux countries.

Our team delivered innovative and market-ready solutions in both rounds, which were also considered economically well-grounded by the jury, narrowly missing advancement to the final stage.

Congratulations to our members for their outstanding performance in this international competitive field!
