Victory in Vienna! Our alumni members win the Modul Business Championship case study competition

Our alumni members, representing the Department of Economics and Business Administration in Hungarian Language at Babeș–Bolyai University (UBB-FSEGA) in Cluj-Napoca, achieved an outstanding international result by winning the final of the Modul Business Championship, competing against teams representing universities from Central and Eastern Europe.

The final round took place between April 16–19, 2026, in Vienna, bringing together the top 10 university teams from 9 countries, selected through a Central and Eastern Europe-wide online preliminary round.

During the final, participating teams were tasked with developing a 5-year business strategy for MOL Austria, aimed at strengthening its position on the national energy market and supporting revenue growth.

Following the evaluation by a jury of economic experts from Austria, the solution proposed by the UBB team received the highest score, standing out for its feasibility, strategic coherence, and projected financial impact.

Final ranking of the competition:

  1. Babeș-Bolyai University
  2. Corvinus University of Budapest
  3. Modul University Vienna

The winning team members were Bánffy Zsófia, Dimény-Varga Ábel, and Tófalvi Krisztián, Data-Driven Management master’s students at UBB-FSEGA.
