GTK members reach the finals and win special award at the first international case study competition in Gödöllő

From May 13–15, 2026, the final round of the first edition of the international Anthropocene Case Competition, organized by the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) and the Bonafarm Group, took place in Gödöllő.

More than 60 teams of three students—at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral level—from various European and Asian countries applied to the competition and competed through three preliminary rounds held between February 16 and March 25. Out of all applicants, the top 12 teams qualified for the final held in Gödöllő, including the team representing the Department of Economics and Business Administration in Hungarian Language of the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca and the GTK Business Consulting Club.

During the on-site final, students faced a 48-hour challenge working on a case study provided by the Bonafarm Group. The task was to develop a feasible business and technological concept through which by-products of the Hungerit slaughterhouse could be utilized in a profitable and sustainable way, even alongside capacity expansion. Teams presented their solutions in three divisions, and the division winners, along with the best second-place team, advanced to the grand final.

Based on the jury’s evaluation, the team from Cluj successfully advanced to the grand final, where they ultimately received a special award.

The team members were András Gergő (Finance and Banking, 2nd year), Faluvégi Balázs-Krisztián (Business Information Systems, 1st year), and Imre-Madarász Emese (Finance and Banking, 1st year).

The team was coached by Dr. Györfy Lehel, Dr. Rácz Béla, Dr. Szász Levente, and Székely Evelin, who accompanied the team to the on-site final.

Congratulations to the team members for their excellent performance and outstanding result!
