2-year students participated in a business simulation

Between 19 December 2022 and 16 January 2023, the second-year GTK students participated in a simulation training course, held by dr. Botond Benedek.

The training series started on 19 December, when the trainer introduced the students to the simulation and the simulation platform. In the simulation, the students had to manage a bicycle manufacturing company. This company produced 6 types of bicycles and the students had to make decisions about the price of the product, marketing costs, quantity produced, HR related decisions, warehouse and other decisions related to investments. The aim of the game was to achieve the highest possible cumulative profit.

In the following week, the students participated in a trial run that consisted of 3 rounds, where they made decisions without any stakes, in order to get to know the platform and the game better.

Then, once everyone had worked out the game and developed a strategy, they played through a 7-day live simulation in which they had to react constantly to both market factors and the decisions of their competitors.

The event ended with a debriefing and evaluation session, during which the experiences and lessons learned were discussed. Overall, this training and simulation was very useful, as the students were able to develop their knowledge of optimisation and they also had the chance to experience what it is like to manage a real-life company.

We would like to thank dr. Botond Benedek for the interactive training!
