Award-winning performance at the international case competition hosted by the University of Northern Iowa
Between March 6-11, 2022 the University of Northern Iowa (USA) hosted the NIBS Worldwide Case Competition (https://nibscasecompetition.org/), the most prestigious global competition of NIBS (Network of International Business Schools). For the first time in the 26-years history of the event, students representing the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Babeș-Bolyai University (BBU FSEGA) and GTK have qualified to the final round of the competition. Competing with student teams from Denmark, the Netherlands and Ireland, the team from Cluj did not manage to qualify from their division. Nevertheless, they had an excellent performance and based on the decision of the jury the Best Individual Presenter Award of the whole competition was awarded to Dóra Szőke, member of the team representing BBU FSEGA and GTK.
The competition was preceded by a worldwide qualification round, based on which the team representing BBU FSEGA and GTK has earned the opportunity to compete among the 16 best universities of the competition. In this final round, the team from Cluj had to compete in the same division with student teams representing the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands), the Technological University Dublin (Ireland), and the International Business Academy (Denmark). Although the jury has highly appreciated the solution of our team, the division was ultimately won by the team from the Netherlands. The first prize of the grand final was awarded to the University of Guelph-Humber from Canada.
The team from Cluj has delivered an excellent solution within the competition, being recognized by the official jury as well: based on the decision of the jury the Best Individual Presenter Award out of 16 competing teams and 64 competitors was awarded to Dóra Szőke, member of team BBU and GTK.
Team members from Cluj-Napoca were Kristóf Balázs (Business Information Systems, 1st year), Evelin-Beáta Székely (Business Information Systems, 2nd year), Péter Szekernyés (Management, 2nd year) and Dóra Szőke (Management, 2nd year). Team coordinators were Levente Szász, Lehel Györfy, Béla-Gergely Rácz and Kincső Kelemen.
Congratulations to Dóra and the entire team for this outstanding result!
