Communication workshops with dr. Magor Kádár

During the first semester, GTK students participated in a series of communication training that throughout the years has become a tradition.

On October 24th the junior members of the GTK Business Consulting Club, participated in their first communication training. The training was held by dr. Magor Kádár. The training started with a short introduction, then the work began. The first step was to analyze in detail the videos that the 13 juniors had to make before and during the admission period. Each member of the group was asked to explain the positive aspects of their video, which they thought won the admission committee’s approval. They also had to define the negativities and the things they could have done differently for a better video. After the individual evaluation, the entire group could share their thoughts and suggestions regarding their colleague’s video. Lastly, the trainer shared his professional insight about the videos. At this part, the juniors could have learned such things as how important, for instance, the postures, facial expressions, and movements are during an introduction, presentation, or even during an interview.

The second communication training of the year was organized on October 31, 2022 and it focused mainly on the topic of first impressions. During the training, the members of GTK watched a TED talk video, the topic of which was distraction. Furthermore, Dr. Kádár Magor presented factors that influence the creation of first impressions, then he gave a short presentation about forming stereotypes and gave suggestions on how to get rid of these images. Finally, the speaker encouraged the students to form a more positive self-image.

On 28 November, the GTK members continued their communication training series. On this occasion, they discussed the ideas behind a good presentation. In group work, they discussed the structure of a good presentation and the points to go through in order to get a clear message across. Then they talked about the appearance of a good speaker, both in terms of physical and mental preparation. In the third point, the competences and skills that contribute to becoming a better speaker were discussed. Finally, the challenges and problems that might arise before or during a competition were debated. The students tried to find solutions to the problems enlisted, that could help them later in competitions or in any other presentation when they could apply their public speaking skills.

The fourth communication training took place on 5 December. The topic of the workshop was the characteristics of the ideal presentation, thus members of the GTK could get a lot of insight into what a presentation consists of, what the biggest challenges and problems are, and how to overcome and solve them. With the knowledge acquired here, students could understand the way of planning a presentation in advance.

We would like to thank Dr. Magor Kádár for the meaningful training!
