“Education & Mobility” – lectures held by Dr. Malcolm Gillies

On 11-12 March, 2014, Dr. Malcolm Gillies (rector of the London Metropolitan University) held a public lecture and a series of seminars at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Babeş – Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca within the framework of MCC-GTK Leadership Program. The title of the lecture was “Education & Mobility?”, while the title of the seminars was “Higher Education”.

During the lecture, Dr. Malcolm Gillies presented the advantages, the disadvantages and the borders of the Bologna System. After that, the lecturer presented the difference between the financial subventions of the education in various EU countries, including a more detailed presentation of the higher education system in the UK.

During the seminars, the lecturer and the members of GTK – Business Consulting Club have talked about the values of higher education and about the differences between disciplines and professions. After that they discussed the question whether a university must be local, national or global.

The event was organized by Mathias Corvinus Collegium from Budapest and GTK – Business Consulting Club from Cluj-Napoca.
