Excellent performance at the international case competition in Norway
Our students delivered an excellent performance at the international case competition organized by NHH – Norwegian School of Economics, with the Cluj-Napoca team finishing third in their division in both rounds of the competition.
The competition took place in Bergen between September 20 and 26, 2026, bringing together teams from 12 renowned universities. Representing the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Babeș-Bolyai University, as well as GTK, were Gergő András (Finance and Banking, 2nd year), Adél Izsák (Finance and Banking, 2nd year), Benedek Lázár (Finance and Banking, 2nd year), and Izolda Toth (Management, 2nd year).
The teams competed in two rounds. The first case focused on Nereida Energy, a Norwegian company developing battery systems for the electric and sustainable operation of vessels. The teams were tasked with determining how the company could expand beyond the Norwegian market and establish itself as an international player over the next five years.
The second round focused on DOF, a Norwegian offshore company combining vessel ownership with subsea services. The challenge was to develop a strategy showing how the company could turn its current strengths into sustainable and profitable growth by identifying where and how it should expand, as well as how that growth should be financed over the next 10–15 years.
The teams from Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, the University of Sydney in Australia, and the University of South Carolina in the United States advanced to the final. The University of South Carolina ultimately won the competition.
The team was coached by Dr. Levente Szász, Dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz, and Dr. Lehel Györfy, while PhD candidate Réka Izsák accompanied and supported the students on-site throughout the competition.
Congratulations to the team on this outstanding international performance!
