Excellent results at Pécs

Between the 24th-26th of October 2011 the University of Pécs, Hungary organized the 4th Dr. Papp László Case Study Competition in Accounting. The 13 four-member teams came from different universities from Hungary and the neighboring countries.

The teams representing the Babeș-Bolyai University ofCluj-Napoca were: ONE (Boglárka Dorner, Attila Erdély, Csongor Farkas, Kinga Szőcs – BCC memebers), Skyline (Mónika Baumgartner, Zsolt Benkő, Tamás Major ECC members, along with Csaba Kristály, non-BCC member) and Sirius (Krisztina Ábrahám, BCC-member, along with Endre Csorvási, Barna Gáspár, Beáta Imrea – all representing the Mikó Imre College for Advanced Studies).

Despite domestic team’s success, the students of the Babeș-Bolyai University managed to achieve outstanding results:

  • 1st prize: University of Pécs (Solution)
  • 2nd prize: Babes-Bolyai University (Sirius)
  • 3rd prize: Babeș-Bolyai University (Skyline)

The teams had to solve the case of the Hungarian Dorog Power Plant, with only 24 hours available to solve the problems of the company, and to review its strategy, marked by rising fuel prices, electricity price and CO2regulations.

With such a short time at their disposal and a complex case study, the teams were once again able to perform successfully. Congratulations to all participants!
