GTK Semester Closing Conference with the participation of Mr. Costin Borc, Minister of Economy

The traditional GTK Business Consulting Club Semester Closing Conference was held on January 15, 2016 in Cluj-Napoca. During the event our junior members, with the assistance of seniors members, presented their market analysis regarding the real estate and construction industry. The analysis gave a comprehensive picture of the two industries’ five sub-sectors on a global, European, and Romanian level, as well as in Cluj-Napoca. The subsectors analyzed included residential complexes, office buildings, shopping centers, industrial parks, and hospitality units. The students concluded the analysis with a strategic proposal that attempted to answer the following question: In which sub-sector and district is it worth investing in Cluj-Napoca?

The students’ presentation was followed by the speech delivered by Mr. Costin Borc, Minister of Economy, previously managing director of CRH Romania and Lafarge Romania. Mr. Borc gave valuable feedback on the students’ work and held an informal lecture presenting the main strategic objectives of the Ministry of Economy regarding the development of the Romanian economic environment and the domestic opportunities for young entrepreneurs.

Following this speech, Claudiu Vrînceanu, Secretary of the State responsible for the development of small and medium enterprises gave a short presentation that included 8 arguments why young entrepreneurs should set up businesses in Romania, and presented the changes that will promote the Romanian entrepreneurial environment.

At the end of the conference participants were given the opportunity to address questions to the representatives of the Ministry, thereby initiating an informal conversation between students, professors and the Minister.

The event ended with a dinner at which students, together with the coordinators, evaluated the achievements and results obtained during the last semester.
