GTK students finish in the first half of the table of the international case competition in Porto!

Between 17-21 November 2025, Porto University organized the „FEP.UPorto ICC 2025” international business case competition, which was attended by several prestigious universities from all around the world, including the student team from Cluj representing the Babeș-Bolyai University (BBU). The competition consisted of three qualifying rounds with different divisions, thereby the team of Cluj could compete with several teams from countries like Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Spain, Canada, Ireland and Portugal. Based on the aggregate scores, the BBU team finished in the first half of the rankings, by a low margin behind the three finalist teams. The first two steps of the podium were taken by two Canadian universities, while the third place was occupied by a team from Australia.

The Babeș-Bolyai University was represented by the student team consisting of  Richard Boros (3rd year, Management), Magor Hadnagy (3rd year, Management), Benedek Lázár (2nd year, Finance and banking) and Krisztina Kozma (3rd year, Management). The team was coordinated and trained by GTK coordinators dr. Levente Szász, dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz and dr. Lehel Györfy.

In the first round of the competition teams had 5 days at their disposal to optimize the logistics network of Parfois, a Portuguese fashion firm. The second roundconsisted of a 4-hour challenge in which teams had to develop a human resource management strategy for the fintech firm Natixis. In the last round the participants had 12 hours to develop a European expansion strategy for RTE, a Portuguese manufacturer of e-bikes.
