Lean management training at Emerson Cluj

On 17 May 2016, student members of the GTK Business Consulting Club have visited the campus of Emerson Cluj to participate on an interactive training session in lean management held by Irina Mihuț, a specialist in the field at Emerson.

In the first part of training participants had the opportunity to learn about the Perfect Execution strategy,an operational framework developed by Emerson company, followed by the basic concepts in lean management.

For a better understanding of lean management, the training continued with an interactive simulation game.GTK members were divided into three teams, and after an introduction to the rules of the game, they had the chance to experience what is it like to work with processes that have nopre-defined and improved operations strategy.

After the simulation game the training continued with another theoretical part focused on specific lean practices, like methods to minimize waste, a systematic approach to reduce non-value added time, and the 5S+1 method to organize the working environment.

After the second theoretical part participants returned to the simulation game, where they had the possibility to apply the lean practices learnt to improve the processes of the game. Each team has followed a different strategy, so everyone could learn from each other. The trainer provided valuable feedback on the best strategies to apply lean improvements.

The visit of GTK students at Emerson Cluj Campus represented an excellent opportunity to gain relevant experience and knowledge in lean managementthat can be applied in many different personal or professional situations in the future.
