Our students developed the sustainability strategy of a Thai bank at the case competition in Bangkok!
Between October 14-18, 2024, the Thammasat Business School in Bangkok hosted one of the world’s most prestigious international case study competitions, where a team representing the Department of Economics and Business Administration in Hungarian Language of Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, as well as GTK, had the opportunity to participate. The competition, called the Thammasat Undergraduate Business Challenge (TUBC 2024), held for the 27th time this year, welcomed student teams from 20 universities worldwide. The participants were tasked with developing a sustainability strategy for one of Thailand’s leading banks, Krungsri, with a particular focus on supporting the ESG reporting of corporate clients. The team from Cluj-Napoca presented an outstanding solution to the professional jury, which highly valued the innovative approach of the BBU and GTK students, including a blockchain-based data collection and processing project proposed by the team.
The members of the team from Cluj-Napoca were Dimény-Varga Ábel (Business Information Systems, 3rd year), Hajdó Boglárka (Business Information Systems, 2nd year), Kolozsi Gergő (Marketing, 3rd year), and Tófalvi Krisztián (Business Information Systems, 3rd year). The team was coordinated by university professor Dr. Szász Levente, with Dr. Györfy Lehel-Zoltán and Dr. Rácz Béla-Gergely contributing to the preparation.
Despite our team’s excellent solution, they did not manage to advance from the group stage this time, but the students returned home with significant international professional experience and valuable connections. The competition was won by the National University of Singapore, with the team from the University of Hong Kong finishing second, and the team from Singapore Management University taking third place.
We congratulate our members on their outstanding performance in a highly competitive international field!
