Our students have won first place in Europe and second place worldwide in an international market analysis competition
After winning the European round, the student team from GTK qualified for the global final of the international market analysis competition organised by SHARE Center, where they came second behind the winners, Michigan State University, beating the team from Pennsylvania State University, also in the United States.
The SHARE Center is a member of the CoStar Group (NASDAQ: CSGP), a New York Stock Exchange listed company whose core business is providing data and analysis for online real estate trading. The group, through its STR affiliate, launched the SHARE Center project, which aims to bring data-driven decision making and analysis to the hospitality and real estate industries at the world’s leading business schools. In 2022, 62 teams from 23 countries participated in the group’s global market analysis competition. Teams of 3 to 6 people, led by professors, were required to collect and analyse hotel data from a selected city, which they combined with additional data to present a market analysis to a panel of global hospitality industry leaders.
The Cluj team, representing the GTK Business Consulting Club, consisted of Kristóf Balázs (Business Informatics, 2nd year), András-Gergely Csenteri (Business Management Msc, 1st year), Ákos Erőss (Management, 2nd year), Balázs Gergely (Management, 2nd year), Sára Karda (Financial Corporate Management Msc, 1st year) and Péter Zsombori (Management, 2nd year). The advisors of the team were drd. Kincső Kelemen and dr. Levente Szász.
The team from Cluj-Napoca, which achieved an excellent result, had to compete in the online European round on 8 November 2022 against teams from the following universities: École hôtelière de Lausanne (Switzerland), Les Roches (Switzerland), University Bocconi (Italy), Istanbul Technical University (Turkey), Zuyd Hogeschool Maastricht (The Netherlands), Özyeğin University (Turkey) and Artesis Plantijn University of Applied Sciences (The Netherlands).
The GTK team won the European round and qualified to compete in the global final on 20 November 2022 against teams from Michigan State University (USA), Pennsylvania State University (USA), Virginia Technological University (USA), University of Houston (USA), RMIT (Vietnam), Hong Kong Polytechnic University (China), Republic Polytechnic (Singapore), Budapest University of Economics (Hungary), Universidad Panamericana (Mexico) and Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla (Mexico).
