Our students woked on a development strategy for a private hospital and an expansion startegy for a paint manufacturer during the international case competition in Thailand!

Between May 19–25, 2025, the Chulalongkorn International Business Case Competition was held in two locations in Thailand: Bangkok and Hua Hin. A total of 20 university teams from around the world participated in the competition, including a student team representing the Department of Economics and Business Administration in Hungarian Language at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, as well as the GTK Business Consulting Club.

The participating teams competed in two rounds. In the first round, they had 8 hours to develop a growth strategy for a Thai private hospital, focusing on expanding its clientele for wellness and preventive healthcare services. In the second round, teams had 24 hours to prepare a market expansion strategy for a Thai paint manufacturing company aiming to enter the Vietnamese market.

The team from Cluj-Napoca consisted of the following students: Ábel Dimény-Varga (Business Information Systems, 3rd year), Boglárka Fazakas (Business Information Systems, 2nd year), Gergő Kolozsi (Marketing, 3rd year), and Krisztián Tófalvi (Business Information Systems, 3rd year). Their coaches were Dr. Levente Szász, Dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz, and Dr. Lehel Györfy.

The team representing BBU and GTK performed excellently in the group stages, competing against teams from universities in Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand. Although they did not advance beyond their group, the jury gave positive feedback on their solutions. The competition was ultimately won by the team from Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands), followed by the University of Auckland (New Zealand), while the City University of Hong Kong — which advanced from the BBU team’s group — took third place ahead of Queen’s University (Canada) in the finals.

Congratulations to our students for their outstanding performance in a high-level international competition!
