Our team’s excellent performance at the Norvegian case competition!
Our student team, consisting of András Antal (Finance and Banking, 3rd year), Richard Boros (Management, 1st year), Ábel Dimény-Varga (Business Informatics, 2nd year), and Réka Lőrinczi (Finance and Banking, 3rd year), finished third in their group in the first round of the NHH International Case Competition 2024, held in Bergen, Norway, outperforming the teams from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and the Universitetet i Agder. Although they did not advance to the top three in the second round, our team delivered an outstanding professional performance throughout this prestigious competition.
Once again, the NHH Norwegian School of Economics hosted the renowned NHH International Case Competition 2024 in Bergen, from 22-28th of September, where student teams from 15 universities across the globe competed. The participating teams came from three continents and 11 different countries.
During the competition, teams had to compete in two rounds: in the first round, the task was to develop an expansion strategy into China for the Norwegian company Highsoft, as well as the implementation of artificial intelligence into the company’s services. In the second round, the challenge was to create a strategy for DNV, another major Norwegian corporation. The company, which operates in the TIC (testing, inspection, and certification) sector, was looking for a 5-year strategy focused on the maritime and energy industries, with an emphasis on increasing its recurring revenues.
Based on the results of the group rounds, the University of Alberta, HKU Business School, and Maastricht University from the Netherlands advanced to the finals. The victory was ultimately claimed by HKU Business School, which advanced to the final surpassing the team from Babeș-Bolyai University.
The Cluj-based student team was coached by Dr. Levente Szász, Dr. Lehel Györfy, and Dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz. At the competition the team was coordinated by GTK alumni Ph.D. student Izsák Réka. Congratulations to the BBU team for their excellent performance and results!
