Qualification in the finals at Ottawa! Outstanding performance of our students at the Canadian International Case Study Competition!
The Rotterdam-Carleton International Case Competition, 2023 (ROCA), organized by Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and Carlton University, took place in Ottawa, Canada, between 21-28 October 2023.The Hungarian undergraduate student team of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, members of the GTK Business Consulting Club have reached the finals with an outstanding performance.
The members of the team from Cluj Napoca were undergraduate students Sarolta-Zsófia Albert (3rd year, Finance and Banking), András Antal (3rd year, Finance and Banking), Márk-Andrei Dinea (3rd year, Finance and Banking) and Krisztián Tófalvi (2nd year, Business Information Systems), and the team was coached by Kincső Kelemen. During the qualifying rounds of the competition, the participants had to solve three 6-hour case studies: in the first round, for Plantaform, a company innovating vertical indoor gardening with fogponics technology, in the second round, for Stinis, a manufacturer of container grabs for shipboard cranes, and in the third round, for Kinexis, a company designing supply chain management software.
The team from Cluj-Napoca defeated Concordia University and John Molson School of Business, Canada in the first round, lost a close battle against Universidad Panamericana in the second round, and on the third day they managed to beat Thammasat University, Thailand, to get into the finals. In the finals, the team helped in solving the challenges of the Zibi project, a carbon-neutral, co-housing solution to the redevelopment of an Ottawa neighborhood. First place went to the team from Wilfrid Laurer University in Canada, second to the team from HEC Montreal in Canada and the bronze medal went to Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences in Germany.
The coaches of the team were Kelemen Kincső, Dr. Levente Szász, Dr. Lehel Györfy, and Dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz.
