Remarkable achievements by our alumni members at the UMCC Case Study Competition in Münster
The University of Münster Case Club (UMCC) in Münster, Germany, hosted an international case study competition from October 17th to 21st, 2023. The students from the Hungarian branch of Babeș-Bolyai University’s Faculty of Economics and Business Administration delivered outstanding performances, securing the top position in their division throughout the initial two rounds, pushing through until the final round.
The team from Cluj-Napoca, composed of Krisztina Bokor-Tóth, Kende Ferenc Pásztor, Péter Szekernyés, and Dóra Szőke, all first-year Business management master’s students, were accompanied by their coach, Dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz. In the competition’s group stages, participants were tasked with solving two 3-hour and one 8-hour case studies: the first round revolved around a metal recycling company (TSR – the metal company), the second round focused on an agribusiness company (Agravis), while the final round required solutions for the LVM German insurance company.
In the qualifying divisions, our students competed against teams from the University of Amsterdam, TU Dublin from Europe, and Universidad Panamericana from Mexico. They secured the top position in the first group stage and maintained their leadership status until the third round. After the third session, Universidad Panamericana’s team advanced to the UMCC Case Challenge 2023 finals based on the cumulative scores. Ultimately, the competition was won by the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, with Copenhagen Business School from Denmark as the runner-ups, and Universidad Panamericana taking the third position on the podium.
The team received guidance from coaches Dr. Levente Szász, Dr. Lehel Györfy, and Dr. Béla-Gergely Rácz.
We extend our congratulations to our alumni members for their exceptional performance in this international competition!
