Second place among European teams at the Belgrad Business International Case Competition

The 8th BBICC, Belgrade Business International Case Competition (https://bbicc.org/), an international business case study competition, was organized online between 8-13 May 2022. The competition was attended by a four-person team composed of students of GTK Business Consulting Club (GTK) and of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Babeș-Bolyai University (BBU), where they competed against renowned universities such as University of Belgrade, Lazaridis School of Business and Economics from Waterloo, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, National University of Singapore and others.

The teams were competing in three divisions: Australian-Canadian, Asian, and European, BBTE students competing in the latter. Although the team from Cluj did not make it to the top three finals, they came home with a second-place finish within among the European teams during the 5-hour case.

The competition consisted of two phases: a five-hour case study, during which students had to come up with proposals for the development of the Serbian Municipality of Topola, and a twenty-four-hour case study, during which they had to develop a strategy for the involvement in education of Epic Games and Unreal Engine. In both stages, the team from Cluj-Napoca, made up of first- and second-year students, performed excellently.

The finalists of the competition were:

1st place: National University of Singapore

2nd place: University of Belgrade

3rd place: Lazaridis School of Business & Economics

The members of the team from Cluj were Kristóf Balázs (1st year, Business Information Systems), Anna Bugár (1st year, Finance and Banking), Evelin-Beáta Székely (2nd year, Business Information Systems), Péter Szekernyés (2nd year, Finance and Banking).
