Second place in in their group at the Maastricht 2023 case study competition
From 7 to 13 May 2023, the thirteenth annual Maastricht University School of Business and Economics (SBE) World Case Study Competition took place, with students from the GTK Business Consulting Club, participating alongside 15 teams from North America, Asia, Australia and Europe.
The 2023 edition of the International Case Competition @ Maastricht (ICC@M) Global Business Case Competition consisted of three rounds, two four-hour and one twenty-four-hour phase. During these, our students had to prepare and present three case study solutions to a professional jury.
The team representing Babeș-Bolyai University and GTK Business Consulting Club consisted of four Hungarian economics students. Balázs Kristóf, a second-year student of Business Information Systems, Bánffy Zsófia, a second-year student of Finance and Banking and Management, Székely Evelin-Beáta, a third-year student of Business Information Systems, and third-year Finance and Banking student Szekernyés Péter competed in a four-team division against teams from Tampere University of Applied Sciences in Finland, the University of Florida, Heavener School of Business in the United States and the University of British Columbia, Sauder School of Business in Canada. In the two four-hour rounds, our students tackled challenges from Qiagen Biotechnology and Kebony Timber Production and Handling. The second half of the eventful week was a 24-hour case study in which they had to prepare the development of the Lufthansa airline chatbot to enhance the customer experience.
Based on the final scores, our students finished as runners-up in their division, tied with the Finnish team behind Florida and the finalists from Canada. The winners of the competition were the students from Singapore Management University.
The team from Cluj-Napoca was also able to participate in other cultural and professional activities during the competition. Thanks are due to the coaching professors Dr. Szász Levente, Dr. Györfy Lehel and Dr. Rácz Béla-Gergely, and to Kelemen Kincső, PhD student.
Congratulations for a great performance in the international field!
