“What makes a good leader?” – course and simulation

On 9 December, 2013 Dr. Mercé Mach (professor at the University of Barcelona, Faculty of Economics and Business) held a public lecture and a series of seminars at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Babeş – Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca in the framework of MCC-GTK Leadership Program. The title of the lecture was “What makes a good leader?”, while the title of the seminars was “Leadership Simulation”.

The event was supported by Mathias Corvinus Collegium from Budapest and GTK – Business Consulting Club from Cluj-Napoca.

During the lecture, Dr. Mercé Mach presented the skills that a good leader is required to possess in order to perform their work efficiently and successfully. Participants were given the answer to the question whether leaders are born or leadership skills are developed during their lives. Finally using the example of a famous leader, Nelson Mandela, the lecturer highlighted the capabilities of a true leader.

During the seminars, participants took part in a simulation game during which they could examine how one should behave in specific leadership roles. Once the simulation was finished, with the help of the lecturer, participants formulated conclusions and recommendations for the future when dealing with similar situations.

We would like to grab this opportunity to express our gratitude to our invited lecturer for the exceptional courses she held during the two days of this event!
