Outstanding result: GTK students win second prize at the international case competition of the Universidad Panamericana, Mexico

Between the 28th of October and 2nd of November, 2019 it took place in Guadalajara, Mexico the „Business & Management Case Competition” organized by the Universidad Panamericana where a student team representing UBB-FSEGA and GTK also participated. The team from Cluj-Napoca obtained an excellent result, winning the two qualificaton rounds, and qualifying to the Grand Final of the event. On basis of the presentations made in the Grand Final the team from Cluj-Napoca obtained the second place on the podium, after the winner Simon Fraser University (Canada), and being followed by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, respectively the Copenhagen Business School from Denmark.

The team from Cluj-Napoca was formed by the following GTK members: Barabási Tamás (Business Information Systems, 3rd year), Boga Balázs (Management, 2nd year), Izsák Réka (Finance and Banking, 2nd year) și Jakó Zsolt (Management, 3rd year). The coordinators of the team were: prof.univ.dr. Szász Levente, conf.univ.dr. Györfy Lehel-Zoltán, respectively lect.univ.dr. Rácz Béla-Gergely.

In the first qualification round the teams had the task to elaborate a business strategy for a global bakery company, Bimbo Group. Team UBB-FSEGA had a well founded solution from economic point of wiew, and they won the group in front of teams from University of Washington (USA) and University of Alberta (Canada).

In the second qualification round the teams had to elaborate an international expansion strategy for a local tequila producer company. Team Cluj-Napoca obtained an excellent result again, winning the group in front of the teams of University of Vermont (USA) and University of Glasgow (UK).

Four teams qalified in the Grand Final, and the team GTK from Cluj-Napoca managed to reach the excellent second place among them. Congratulations for team GTK for this outstanding result!
